However, it’s not just a physical structure but an embodiment of Nepal’s values—unity, hospitality, and spirituality. The temple was so central to the city’s identity that Kathmandu itself is believed to have been named after it. Sadly, the original structure was severely damaged in the devastating earthquake of 2015, but its cultural and symbolic significance endures, and reconstruction efforts are ongoing.

Inspired by the spiritual and communal values that Kasthamandap represents, we decided to name our Nepalese restaurant in the heart of Dubai after this revered edifice. The Kasthamandap restaurant aims to serve as a cultural pavilion in an urban desert landscape, much as the original Kasthamandap stands as a spiritual oasis in Kathmandu. We want to be a gathering place for people of all backgrounds, just like the iconic structure has been for centuries in Nepal. The intricate wooden carvings that adorned the temple serve as design inspirations for the interiors of our restaurant, creating a space where the ancient and the modern coexist.

When you dine at our restaurant, it’s not just a culinary journey to Nepal but also a voyage through the richness of Nepalese culture and heritage. We bring authentic Nepalese cuisine to Dubai, paying homage to traditional flavors and spices. Through our food, we offer a slice of Nepal’s famed hospitality, taking you momentarily from the hustle and bustle of cosmopolitan Dubai to the serene Himalayan landscapes and warm, inviting communities of Nepal. Just as Kasthamandap is a beacon of Nepalese culture and tradition, our restaurant aims to be a sanctuary where Dubai’s cosmopolitan crowd can experience the tranquility, unity, and rich cultural tapestry that Nepal offers. We strive to make Kasthamandap in Dubai a living tribute to the original, venerable structure in Kathmandu, delivering the essence of Nepal to an international audience.
